- Jñānopayogaज्ञानोपयोग
- Determinate knowing — knowledge with specific content.
- Eight kinds: the five knowledges plus mati-ajñāna, śruta-ajñāna and vibhaṅga-jñāna.

- Śruta-jñānaश्रुतज्ञान
- Scriptural or articulate knowledge.
- Always preceded by mati. Divided into aṅga-praviṣṭa (the twelve Aṅgas) and aṅga-bāhya. Uniquely, it can be communicated to others.
