- Mati-jñānaमतिज्ञान
- Sensory and mental knowledge.
- Arises through the five senses and the mind, in four stages: avagraha, īhā, apāya, dhāraṇā. Classified as parokṣa because it depends on external instruments.

- Indirect knowledge, mediated by senses or mind.
- Mati and śruta. Called indirect because the soul knows through something other than itself.
